In March 2005 KLD Cheerleaders formed part of an Australian Cheerleading Team organized through Gymnastics Australia and tour operators D.I.R. Down Under which traveled and competed in America.
In total 9 KLD students participated along with 3 students from Western Australia and 1 student from Queensland. The team was put together to compete at CANAM, South Carolina’s National Championships. 2 routines were choreographed by Tina Burger (QLD) and videotaped to allow students from each state to learn the routines via correspondence. Kerryn Brimmer, KLD Coach, spent many hours working through the video to breakdown the routines to teach her students.
KLD students spent the last week of their Christmas school holidays learning their routines including one routine, choreographed by Kerryn, that they would perform representing KLD. All in all KLD students had 5 weeks of training prior to departure to the USA and had never met the other team members until they arrived in Las Vegas.
